Date: February 13, 2020

AT Institute has had an amazing year. Here’s a quick glance at some of our highlights as we look forward to an even better 2020!

All of us here at Appliance Technical Institute of Canada (AT Institute) have been hard at work training the HVAC and Appliance Service Technicians of the future. Our College has seen a significant increase in registrations over the last year, and 98% of graduates are working in their field of study!

5 New Programs Added in 2019

The school of Applied Technology offered 5 additional programs: Commercial Appliance Service Technician, Domestic Appliance Technician, Gas Technician, Sealed System Mechanics, and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. With additional programs added to the roster, AT Institute also increased its Co-op network to 26 companies in the Greater Toronto Area.  We expect to grow our outstanding network of Co-op placements even further in 2020.

Industry Growth

At Appliance Technical Institute of Canada, we pride ourselves in our ability to get students to be job ready by the end of their program. Working with appliance global manufacturers and industry leaders, we have created a technician pipeline for all of Southern Ontario, and Edmonton, Alberta. 98% of our graduates have been employed immediately after completing their co-op. Our partnership with Whirlpool Canada has grown stronger since 2018. This continued, collaborative growth allowed us to launch a technician pipeline through Northern Ontario, and Alberta. Below are where our graduates have been hired nation-wide.

$131K Bursary and Scholarship Disbursement

Through key industry partnerships with Toronto Appliances Service LTD. and Whirlpool Canada, Appliance Technical Institute of Canada has awarded students with $131,000 in bursaries and scholarships form the School of Applied Technology in 2019. This provided the right students the ability to complete their studies and start a career in their field of study. With a new streamlined Immigrant and Refugee funding option, Ontario will see an increase in well trained skilled workers in 2020.

Events & Workshops

The school of Applied Technology organized 18 workshops and events focusing on Appliance Servicing and HVAC topics throughout 2019. The workshops consisted of professional development material to have those working in the industry upgrade their skills to offer more advanced services to their customers. Through our Sealed System workshop, our students were able to utilize the new Lokring Technology LLC, and gain knowledge on working with R600a refrigerant in domestic refrigerators.
