Appliance Service Technician Program
Appliance Service Technicians repair and service washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, built-in ovens, counter cook top units, microwaves, refrigerators, and freezers for appliance sales companies, wholesalers, large apartment owners and independent service companies. Many may go on to become self-employed or work in the commercial or industrial equipment industry.
This program requires the students to complete the TSSA Gas Technician 3 and DA courses. The Gas Technician 3 component of the combined program is the starting point for technicians in the gas field. The Gas Technician 3 is an essential concurrent certification for anyone wanting to work in the appliance servicing field. Graduates of this program must successfully complete the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) Gas Technician Certification Examination to be eligible to work as a licensed level 3 Gas Technician. The Domestic Appliance (DA) component of the combined program is a continuation of the Gas 3 Technician modules, plus additional training on specific gas fired equipment. Graduates of this program must successfully complete the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) Gas Technician Certification Examination to be eligible to work as a licensed Domestic Appliance Technician.
Students who complete our structured program will receive theory instruction together with the hands-on training methodology taught by highly trained instructors. Areas of study include; appliance service safety, troubleshooting and maintenance repair, and schematic diagrams and parts look up. Students will also have a co-op placement with a local appliance servicing company or manufacturer for 12 weeks.

Graduates of the Appliance Service Technician Program will receive a Technology Ring
The technology ring is a symbol of professionalism and is worn on the fifth finger. It is the exclusive domain of certified engineering and applied science technicians and technologists in Canada. The ring is formed by a repeating pattern of five gears bracketed by a maple leaf on each side. The gears represent the five members of the engineering team: trades person, technicians, technologists, engineers and scientists.
With a silver content of 92.5 per cent, the ring is sterling silver. It is available in sizes 3 – 14.5, including half sizes at a cost of $100 + tax.
